Here are some duas that every student should have learned and saved for the future. Indeed, dua has the power. Dua is one of the most important tools bestowed by Allah to humanity, serving as an immensely personal means for us to communicate and connect with the Almighty. A dua is our conversation with our Creator, conveying our thoughts and words to Him. We can use any words and ask for anything, both for good in this life and the Hereafter. We can pray for ourselves, our friends, families, strangers, those in need, for the Ummah, and humanity as a whole.
All duas are written in Arabic with Romanized Arabic and with translations in English.
Dua before class:
اَللّٰهُمَّ اَخْرِجْنِيْ مِنْ ظُلُمَاتِ الْوَهْمِ وَ اَكْرِمْنِيْ بِنُوْرِ الْفَهْمِ
Allhumma Akhrijni min zulumatil wahmi ,wa akrimni be nuril fahmi .
O’GOD, please bring me out of the darkness of doubt and favour me with the light of comprehension,
اَللّٰهُمَّ افْتَحْ عَلَيْنَا اَبْوَابَ رَحْمَتِكَ وَ انْشُرْ عَلَيْنَا خَزَآئِنَ
عُلُوْمِكَ
Allahumma afta alayna abwaba rahmateka, wa anshur alyna khazaena uloomeka
O’GOD open to us the doors of your mercy and unfold for us the treasure of your knowledge by your mercy
بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ
be rahmateka ya arrahamar rahemeen.
O the most merciful of the merciful ones.

Dua Before Studying:
للَّهُمَّ انْفَعْنِي بِمَا عَلَّمْـتَنِي وَ عَلِّمْنِي مَا يَنْفَعُنِي
“Allahumma infa’nii bimaa ‘allamtanii wa’allimnii maa yanfa’uunii.
Oh Allah! Make useful for me what you have taught me and teach me knowledge that will be useful to me.
.اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْأَلُكَ فَهْمَ النَّبِيِّينَ وَ حِفْظَ الْمُرْسَلِينَ الْمُقَرَّبِينَ
Allahumma inii as’aluka fahmal-nabiyyen wa hifzal mursaleen al-muqarrabeen
Oh Allah! I ask you for the understanding of the prophets and the memory of the messengers, and those nearest to you.
اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْ لِسَانِي عَامِرًا بِذِكْرِكَ وَ قَلْبِي بِخَشْيَتِك.
.Allahumma ijal leesanee ‘aiman bi dhikrika wa qalbi bi khashyatika.
Oh Allah! Make my tongue full of your
remembrance and my heart with awe of you.
َ.إِنَّكَ عَلَى مَا تَشَاءُ قَدِيرٌ وَ أَنْتَ حَسْـبُنَا اللَّهُ وَ نِعْمَ الْوَكِيلُ
Innaka ‘ala ma-tasha’u qadeer wa anta hasbun-allahu wa na’mal wakeel.’
Oh Allah! You do whatever you wish, and you are my availer and protector and best of aid.
Dua before study (2):
للَّهُمَّ اَكْرِمْنْيْ بِنُوْرِ الْفَهْمِ وَ خَرَّجَنِيْ مِنْ ظُلُمَاتِ الْوَهْمِ
Allaahumma akrimnee binooril fahmi wa kharrajanee min z’ulumaatil wahmi
O Allah, honor me by the light of understanding and take me out from the darknesses of doubt
وَ افْتَحْ عَلَيْنَا اَبْوَابَ عِلْمَكَ،
waftah’ a’lainaa abwaaba i’lmak.
and open upon us the doors of Your knowledge
وَ انْشُرْ عَلَيْنَا خُزَّانَ مَعْرِفَتِكَ يَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ،
Wan shur a’lainaa khuzzaanu ma’rifatika yaa arh’amar raah’imeen.
and open upon us the treasure of Your recognition, O the best of the Merciful ones.
اَللَّهُمَّ وَفِّقْنِيْ فِىْ الْمُطَالَعَةِ بِحَلِّ جَمِيْعِ مُشْكِلاَتِ الْمَسَآئِلِ مِنَ الْكُتُبِ بِرَحْمَتِكَ يَا اَرْحَمَ الرَّاحِمِيْنَ.
Allaahumma waffiqnee fil mut’aala’ti bih’ablee jamee-i’ mushkilaatil masaa-ili minal kutubi birah’matika yaa arh’amar raah’imeen
.O’Allah, and give me Tawfeeq to the study and solving all the difficult problems through books. By Your mercy, O the best of the merciful ones.

Du`a for removing Anxiety:
للَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْهَمِّ وَ الْحَزَنِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ العَجْزِ وَ الْكَسَلِ
Allhumma inni adhu bika min al-hammi wa al-hazan. Wa adhu bika min al-ajzi wa al-kasal.
Oh Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief,from helplessness and laziness,
وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْجُبْنِ وَ الْبُخْلِ وَ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ غَلَبَةِ الدَّيْنِ و قَهْرِ الرجال
Wa adhu bika min al-jubni wa al-bukhl. Wa adhu bika min ghalabat id-dayni wa qahr ir-rijal.
from cowardice and stinginess,and from overpowering of debt and from oppression of men
This is a short dua found in Mafateehul Jinaan useful for acquiring better understanding and more insight into the ocean of light of knowledge, It can be recited regularly in Qunoot of Namaaz. This is specially beneficial for students for achieving maximum output from their efforts in studies.
اَللّٰهُمَّ اجْعَلْ لِيْ فِيْ قَلْبِيْ نُوْرًا وَ بَصَرًا وَ فَهْمًا وَ عِلْمًا اِنَّكَ عَلٰى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيْر
O Allah let my heart be filled with light & insight & understanding & knowledge ,verily You control everything.
Dua After Studying:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَسْتَوْدِعُكَ مَا قَرأتُ وَمَا حَفَظْتُ،
“Allahumma inni astaodeeka ma qara’tu wama hafaz-tu.
Oh Allah! I entrust you with what I have read and I have studied.
فَرُضُهُ عَليّ عِنْدَ حَاجَتِي إِلَيهِ،
Farudduhu ‘allaya inda hajati elahi.
Oh Allah! Bring it back to me when I am in need of it.
إِنّكَ عَلى مَا تَشَاءُ قَدِيرُ وَأَنْتَ حَسْبِي وَنِعْمَ الوَكِيل
Innaka ‘ala ma-tasha’-u qadeer wa anta hasbeeya wa na’mal wakeel”
Oh Allah! You do whatever you wish, you are my availer and protector and the best of aid.
Dua While Studying Something Difficult:
اللَّهُمَّ لاَ سَهْلاً إِلّاَ مَا جَعَلّتَهٌ سَهْلاً وَأَنّتَ تَجّعَلَ الحَزَنَ إِذَا شِئتَ سَهْلاً
Allhumma l sahla ill m jaaltahu sahl wa anta tajalu al-hazana idh shita sahl.
Oh Allah! Nothing is easy except what You have made easy. If You wish, You can make the difficult easy.
